Francisco A. Cruz, II
A graduate of Barry University, Dwayne O. Andreas School of Law, and practicing
law since 2014, Mr. Cruz spent time as a criminal defense attorney before
switching sides and becoming a state prosecutor.
As a prosecutor, Mr. Cruz handled a diverse variety of cases from suspended
licenses, DUIs, drug possessions, prostitution, and domestic violence.
He evaluated hundreds of case for filing decisions and participated in
hundreds of plea negotiations and violation of probation hearings. Mr.
Cruz is experienced in handling all aspects of criminal defense including
jury trials, bond motions, diversion and pretrial motions. As the prosecutor
assigned to mental health Court, he gained experience dealing with mental
health issues such as competency. Many of his cases were tried all the
way to a jury verdict.
As an “Army Brat,” Mr. Cruz moved a lot as a child, but his
family finally settled down in Kissimmee after his father retired. He
is a proud graduate and supporter of Osceola High School. Later, he graduated
with a degree in Finance from the University of Central Florida, where
he met his wife. Post college he worked in banking, raising to the position
of manager of operations. After a few years in banking he decided he enjoyed
helping his community more than his position allowed, so after some soul
searching he decided to rearrange his life and pursue law. Now, as a criminal
defense attorney, his focus on helping his community continues.
